School, Work & Wellness
Full Bloom
This large-scale commissioned work centers on the imagery of the doula agency and perinatal center, The Lemon Grove, where it stands tall in the main gathering space at the clinic welcoming all who enter. Incorporating related themes and tying in multiple symbolic elements to highlight the various stages and journeys towards parenthood, this mural combines large and small images that create a warm and welcoming space.
The Reef
This nursing office at Manchester Memorial Elementary School was completely transformed by this mural inspired by the beloved school fish tank and the nurse’s scuba diving hobby! I created coloring pages and a search and find to accompany this mural for students to engage in. Typically when a child is hurt or sick and requries a doctor visit, their parent or caregiver is with them, but if this occurs at school, they have to wait to be picked up while feeling sick, scared or in pain. Creating a calm, welcoming and engaging environment is so critical in healing spaces and one of my areas of focus.
Sanctuary
This space incorporated a full overhaul- painting the mural as well as the ceiling and remaining walls a complimentary color to create a coheasive and calming atmosphere. As a home office and sleep space it was essential that this room serve as a peaceful and seemless backdrop for rest and recovery.
Apple Tree of Learning
This piece wraps around a stairwell’s landing at The Children’s Center for Communication/Beverly School for the Deaf. Designed with the wishes of the school for a calming space featuring natural elements I brought the outside in, brightening this area and drawing your eye from the interior up and out the large window above. I drew on inspiration from the apple tree in front of the school and its symbolism representing learning and growth.
Clean Cut
To revitalize a cluttered bookshelf, I cleared the space and hand painted faux wall paper in a deep blue herringbone pattern. The contrast creates a clean backdrop for this home office space.
Light Breeze
Breathing fresh new life into this bathroom, I painted everything off white and then hand painted faux wall paper as well as the vanity to pick up on the blue green hues form the wall.
Alphabet Garden
This custom feature bathroom wall creates an airy, fresh and engaging scene for little ones as this is located in an indoor play cafe.
Boat Race
This bathroom sits next to the above, and ties together the color scheme while also creating a fresh and welcoming space. Much like the Alphabet Garden, this design features an educational element with each sailboat boasting a number on the sail and corresponding windows in the hulls.
Play
Dream Cloud
This dreamscape provides the backdrop to an infant play space in a play cafe. It is both calming to not overwhelm the youngest of guests yet engaging for little eyes and minds.
King Protea
In this closet conversion, I covered the walls in a calming blue and the ceiling in a deep blue with hand painted stars. In the corner I painted enlarged King Proteas to draw the eye up and make the space appear larger. As a result, this playroom is both a calming respite as well as a place where the wonder of the imagination can go wild.
Unbreakable
This mural serves both a practical and visul purpose in this play space. With active kiddos on the move, placing anything on the mantle or walls that can easily be knocked off just isn’t an option. These painted vases with designs inspired by family pieces from travel and passed down through the family have meaningful and nostalgic notes as well as provide a playful and interactive scene. The kids can tape paper flower boquets to the wall in the vases and change them out with the seasons. No broken pottery here!
Nurseries & Bedrooms
Bunny Dreams
This cozy mural brings so much character to this sweet nursury which will have three bassinets in it for tired infants at this special play cafe. It adds so much interest and the deep tones create a peaceful place to sleep.
Whale
In this seaside nursery, I painted a whale above the crib to go along with the seaside motif and calming energy of the cool blues of the ocean. As an added apeal for nurseries in particular, murals make for an excelent choice above cribs and changing tables where little hands and feet are often reaching and can easily knock framed works down. Practical and engaging!
Seaside
This calming yet playful scene is the perfect backdrop for the endless snuggles, tummy time, reading, and play that awaits in this charming nursery. The bold colors set against the serene backdrop are designed for infant sight development as this baby discovers shape, form and color long before the days of interactive and imaginary play this will help facilitate.
Best Friends
This custom nursery mural incorporated the natural cherry blossoming tree branch and butterflies the client requested and also a portrait of their daughter and family dog sitting in the corner. The piece was designed to surround the placement of the child's crib in this darling nursery.
Rainbow Unicorn
To evoke a sense of tranquility but also keep a playful spirit, I painted a rainbow and unicorn based on this client’s request allowing for a sense of autonomy and ownership as she contributed to the design. Bright, cheerful and yet so cozy with the night light on.
Mountains
As this room transitioned from a nursery into a “big kid” bedroom, I painted a scene that would work in either setting. In an effort to incorporate this enclosed pediatric medical bed, The Courtney Bed, into the transition for the room design, I painted misty mountains so that the bed was absorbed in the fantasy space much like an explorer’s tent. Ensuring that despite the need for medical equipment, nights spent at home would feel cozy and personalized and not like a hospital. A versitle scene that suits both versions of this room
Urban Nursery
This accent wall in a Charlestown nursery space reflected the geometric lines of the rooftops and Bunker Hill Monument outside the window and opened up the small space by accentuating the high ceilings with clean lines. Again for a nursery an accent wall by the crib can be a safe way to add dimention and interest without hanging art which can be easily knocked down by a curious baby or toddler.
